Struggles to Achievements

By: Maricar S. Bucasas | December 13, 2018

"Dreams really do come true........." Those are the words that occupied his thoughts on his momentum. "..........when you pursue."

While looking on the mass of people, giving him a sounding applause, with his feet standing on the stage, upper than them, enough for him to see those familiar faces that are with him through out his journey, with their eyes saying.... "We're so proud of you!" "You deserve it!" Staring at the award on his hands, still don't believe, that yes, he got it!

An eighteen-year old boy, Jandale Jimenez, a Senior High School student from Grade 12-Aristotle of Tarlac National High School-Main ranked as 4th Outstanding Campus Journalist in Region 3 at the Regional Press Conference (RSPC) 2018 held at Malolos Bulacan. He became the Editor-in-Chief of Senior High School this School Year 2018-2019. Together with his team mates, they also got the spot for 2018 National School Press Conference Collaborative Desktop Publishing Champion. "I am very dedicated to being not only an Editor-in-Chief of the Melting Pot but also as a journalist. It is my passion and my refuge." Jandale Jimenez said, showing his strong commitment as a young journalist. Jandale is also a President in their class, other than of being one of the leaders of Journalists, he make sure that he is doing and playing his role well. He is a kind of president that is linient and an encouraging leader. That under his leadership, his subordinates feel fun. His schedule for studies comes after he fulfilled his responsibilities as a Campus Journalist. Despite not attending and being excused for almost a month, for the preparation together with his team for their upcoming competition, he still make sure that he cope up with all of his missed performances, activities and requirements.

Beside the conflict between his studies and Campus Journalism, he still manage to be one of those who required the distinction "With High Honors" in his strand, Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS). In terms of handling both studies and being Editor-in-Chief in Senior High School, He assure that he can fill both of the responsibilities that these two roles demand. As per his studies, he ensure that he will comply all he missed. Whereas, Jimenez being TMP's EIC, he always see to it that he is not lacking in showing his efforts for the betterment of the paper.

As a normal student always feel, Jandale also experienced breakdown because of his responsibilities oftentimes, whenever he can't balance the two. Despite having a big responsibilities academically and as a Campus Journalist, for him, family always comes first because like anyone else, his ultimate inspiration that feels and motivates him in achieving such awards is his family, as a child to his parents and as a brother to his siblings, he always take every opportunity he's at home to make time to bond with them.

"All those short-lived struggles shall pass too. Seize the time you have in the present and let your worries be buried for awhile, otherwise, it will become the haunting ghost of the past left unreleased." Those are the words that he wants to utter for those people who feel difficulty and wanted to give up. It is considered as an eye-opener to strive harder and to overcome the struggles that the world offers you.
